Something’s heating up my back left wheel, but not making noise...first time this thing has been towed since I got it. I could’ve just driven it to my mechanic, but didn’t want to risk a fire if it’s a sticking caliper and gets worse.

Likely stuck calip er.

My ‘02 V70 recently needed to be towed due to the front left cali p er not releasing, and it turned out to be a failing ABS pump.
The caliper was fine, once the root cause was sorted.

That’s why you buy the six cylinder. The transmission breaks before anything else can break.

Pardon me I have the dumbs today.

I have the dumbs every day.

Happened to a friends E30, it was smoking pretty bad so it was obvious that’s what it was.

Stuck caliper, parking brake, or wheel bearing. Take your pick.

Eh, the automatics shit the bed behind the 5 pot just as enthusiastically .

Yeah...I’m hoping for whatever the cheapest option is

That looks suspiciously like my car, though the wheels are different. What year/trim is yours?

Yeah, autocorrect doesn’t like the word caliper apparently

06, 2.5T AWD. Wheels are a carryover from the first gen V70, or maybe even late 850. They were an available wheel choice for a weirdly long time

At least on my phone, autocorrect gets worse & worse over time.

Ford-era corporate ownership, but the P2 generation design predates the marriage. The P3 cars (‘08 and up on the wagons) were where Ford is a factor.

I hope for your sake it is also cheap.
I’m hoping my registration stickers show up so I can start driving my 850 again.

Shhhh, don’t tell mine that...

Can confirm, I have these wheels on my S70. They fit your car nicely.
I was thinking of painting mine black or even gold, will have to try it out in Photoshop first.
I went ahead and shopped it lol. I dunno, loses the luxury feel, if it even had any ...
I hope the bill won’t be too high, good luck!

Ah mine is an 05, but FWD with the NA motor.

Are you trying to make me jealous? Because it’s working.
I miss those Volvo days...

Dark gray maybe but not black please !
B ronze looks good anyway :)

Seriously. Though now that it’s cooling off, my transmission clunk has disappeared. See you again next summer specter of valve body failure!

I rebuilt my entire AC system. Now it makes weird pulsating wooshy noises from under the dash. AC still seems to work though, so ¯\_()_/¯

The design does, I just assumed
by 2006 they were effected by the Ford ownership

My AC is thankfully good, though the blower does vibrate horribly on higher settings. Shop where I did the PPI thought it probably has failing bearings, though JRitS has terrified me that there could be a dead something in there. Either way, I just don’t let it run at full blast unless I really need it for defrosting/defogging, and that’s fine.

Was it this one? :-)x

Whoa, good memory. That’s it, that’s the one I snag two or three of when I’m in Victoria. So good.

I’ll buy one
for Christmas.

The Volvo AC system is very simple, almost too simple - there’s no high pressure port, only a low pressure port, so I had to guess at charging it. I hope I didn’t over do it. Also, No stickers today, but hopefully soon.
Have you serviced your trans? Is it the 5 speed? I’ve heard those are prone to shift solenoid failures, and those actually aren’t awful to replace. Mine has the 4 speed and when I first serviced it, the fluid that came out was like Guinness. I did the drain 2/add 2 method - 2 quarts at a time, drive a few hundred miles, then repeat, 3 times. Now she runs and shifts like a champ.

Yeah it’s the 5-speed auto. It does what seems to be the “garage shift” clunk when it’s hot out, which yeah seems to be due to the valve body solenoids. But it’s not missing any shifts and my Volvo specialist says not to worry about it at this point “they all clunk...” I did get the trans fluid flushed recently so hopefully that delays any badness.

Repaint the lower area (bumpers and under the trim strips) in silver to match the wheels? You could have two-tone.

That’s a cool idea. I did just a very quick ‘shop, looks like it’s chrome by accident but I think it could work. It looks better in my head than it does here.
I’ll give it a serious consideration.
